Disability
Ash Citizens Advice Bureau is able to offer advice on a wide range of disability
related issues, such as:
* Community Care services
* Council Tax reductions
* Direct Payments from Social Services
* Disability benefits
* Disability Discrimination & Rights
* Education special needs
* Employment
* Grants for adaptations
* Housing
* Transport & Travel
In addition, we can offer help with filling out forms, including benefits applications. Such forms
can be extremely lengthy. Living with a long term health problem or disability can mean that
People become accustomed to being unable to do certain things and may not think to mention
this on application forms. The result may be a refusal or a lower than expected level of benefit.
An Ash CAB adviser can stand back from the situation and may be able to see things more
realistically. This often results in a better result for the client.
Ash CAB can also offer advice with making appeals and help to support clients through tribunals.
If you are unable to get into the bureau, we can arrange a home visit.
The CAB aims to ensure that individuals do not suffer through
lack of knowledge of the services available to them.
